Next I'll be requesting hot water with lemon

I hadn't eaten a thing all day except a hasty bad idea handful of chocolate chips washed down with a non-fat vanilla latte, and after cleaning the apartment, loading up another car load of crap from what I've decided is the apartment version of a bag of worms, I was starving and needed a drink. Not true. That is a lie, what I really needed was to go for a run, but it was just about to start pouring, I had a date with Tara and I was feeling very sad about being done with that apartment. So I really wanted a drink. Badly.

I went to the store to drop off the stupid steam cleaner and decided I needed to pick something up to eat, also, I knew Tara wouldn't have any white wine, so I needed that as well. As I was purusing the junk food aisles I felt nothing. Not a single chip cried out to be eaten, not a single cookie, instead I heard a weird noise coming from the produce section. It sounded like, "Eat me. You want a salad. And fruit. " What?

So, I bought a spinach salad, some pre-cut pineapple and a half a honey dew melon. It was quite possibly the most satisfying meal (with the wine, of course) I've had in a while.

I seriously don't know what is becoming of me. I hope this doesn't mean I'm getting old.

Rest assured, I made up for it by ordering French fries and another glass of wine later that night. I think I canceled out the positive effects. Maybe on purpose.

Run 1

I finally went for a run in the new neighborhood. It was just starting to sprinkle when I left the apartment, and it held to a light mist for most of the run. There are a couple of nice hills in the new neighborhood, but also a couple of annoyingly long lights at two intersections. So tomorrow if it isn't pouring like the forecast suggests I might try a slightly different route and see if I can find a better timed stop light situation.

Does having a garage sale count?

I meant to run on Sunday, I wanted to break the 10 mile barrier last week, but I accidentally got a little drunk at my celebratory El Cholo lunch, then I fell asleep on the couch and before I knew it, it was time to go pick up my new apartment keys and explore the new neighborhood. It's going to be an interesting place to live. There are some serious panaderia's on my strip and one market that intrigues me with the "Fruiteria" sign. Anyway, I didn't run. Boo.

Last night, because I didn't want to pack, or think about packing or clean or think about cleaning I went for a run. How about that for a new procrastination technique. I hope it sticks.

Linda Hamilton probably had a little black dog

Lula has been acting a little funny lately. Probably something to do with the mass chaos that has descended upon the apartment. Boxes are everywhere, strangers are coming in to look at my stuff, and generally I've been a little cross with her and then overly affectionate to compensate. This move is the first time I've decided to hire movers, and hopefully it won't break the bank, but mostly I'm doing it so I can save my sanity and the sanity of my friends. Also, so I can keep my exercise schedule with my little black dog. She does best when she gets a good 2 miles in and funnily and conveniently enough, so do I.

As I was walking up the driveway to my apartment I almost talked myself out of running, then I caught a look at my reflection and realized, I am changing and I want to keep changing.

Celebration

I got the apartment I wanted and instead of going out for a drink to celebrate I went for a run. Who knows how to party? I do?

To the library

I had to return some books yesterday to the library and was going to run them over, but with Lula and the books and my already awkward running stance, I decided to just walk briskly and then run on the way back. It translates to a little over a mile each way, so I feel like I kept up my end of the 'try a little harder' bargain.

Then when I got home I did three sets of ten lunges on each leg. I'm going to try to add some more weight training/muscle building stuff like this as I go along.

I have a wealth of exercise knowledge that is going unused and I'm going to slowly add it on to the end of my nightly workouts. I used to love going to my personal trainer back when I lived in Arizona, but that is a luxury I can no longer afford, so I'm going to just do it myself and imagine her long red braid and her skinny freckly arms showing me proper form.

Boring

I'm bored of my route, but don't really have the energy to do too much changing. In less than a month I'll be living somewhere else, so that will surely shake up my routine.

Jalepeno Artichoke Dip

Last night Tara came over and she brought some cheese, crackers and dip. In my crazy food dreams, that would be what heaven served, with Veuve Cliquot champagne and Honey Moon Viognier. So, tonight I pushed my run a little harder and went a little farther than I normally do, which incidentally is when I decided that would be a good New Year's resolution for me.

New Year

I finished out 2007 with two more runs. I did a 2 miler in Seattle before I had to rush off to the airport, then yesterday I managed another 2 milers. I'm going to try and get in a 4 miler this evening, but I'm a bit hungover so we'll see.
